Walk with Me
Oh, I have to tell you this story. We went to Koi last Tuesday night with one of Iwan’s parents. We’ve been there a few times before and always enjoyed it: the food is very, very good and the service is excellent. So Iwan orders the King Prawn and the waitress—lovely girl—brings over the Lobster Bakar. he nods, takes a bite and realizes the difference between a big prawn and a small lobster.
So when the bill comes, Iwan says to the girl “I think you’ve made a mistake with the King Prawns”. On the bill, it’s Rp 500,000 and he was sure it was only Rp. 350,000. She brings the menu and true enough the Bakars are one on top of the other. And the lobster was Rp 500,000. — Iwan had left his glasses in the car and didn’t check when she brought the dish, too busy talking as he usually is. It was his fault of course but in the end they only charged us the Rp 350,000 the King Prawn was listed at.
Iwan’s dad made a joke about how maybe he needs to put his own glasses on when Iwan shows him the monthly bank statement.
We’ve got a few things on this week. Our son Denny got us tickets to Taman Ismail Marzuki on Friday—his girlfriend is the Program Director—and Ira’s eldest, Micky, is getting married on Sunday with a reception at the Balai Kartini, which will be nice. Our daughter, Santi is a bridesmaid, wearing this really lovely kebaya. I don’t know what I’ll wear; I should probably go and get something.
Still I’m looking forward to a night at home, to be honest. Santi lent us the DVD of Mad Men which I saw a couple of times on Indovision and wasn’t keen but she swears by it.
