Smart Money are highly educated leaders in their chosen fields; whether in business, PR or finance. They are exuberant, extroverted, self-confident and generous.
While certainly not embarrassed by their success and wealth, they are almost amused by the fact they’re good at what they do and can enjoy something that ends up giving them all this money.
Walk with me
There’s a new bar down the road that our neighbours Teddy and Petra have opened up called Surabaya Slang, which is clever because it’s a twist on “Singapore Sling”. They even have a signature cocktail with the same name, right next to the Singaporean version in the drinks list. They had our friend Liang do the décor and she’s done a great job except for those godawful stools, have you seen them? Liang says they are retro, but I think they’re just kuno. They’re running the clip from the animated “Battle of Surabaya” too often I think. Still, it’s a neat little bar and I’m sure they’ll do well with the all the younger people coming into the area. It’s good having a younger set coming in and livening up the place.
Our daughter Janet is preparing for her final year school exams. I think she’s putting too much pressure on herself but she says she wants to leave Surabaya and go to the University of Indonesia in Jakarta so she’s got to do really well. So long as she’s happy, we’re happy. And it gives us a good reason to visit the capital often. She’ll do well in Jakarta; I can really imagine her in a business suit in Citibank. She can also take over our motorcycle dealership business when she’s ready.
We’ve been working like crazy people the past month. Vera’s working to get her pet project, the Digital Arts Festival, off the ground and the third dealership in our network is about to open in Makassar.
